Interviews with leading Life Sciences companies: FerroptoCure

FerroptoCure interview – Venture Valuation Let’s Interview Series

This FerroptoCure interview explores how the Tokyo-based biotechnology company is developing orally administered small-molecule cancer therapies designed to induce ferroptosis, an iron-dependent form of non-apoptotic cell death. Its therapeutic approach targets xCT and ALDH, two components of the antioxidant defense system that helps cancer cells withstand oxidative stress.

The company’s lead program, FC-001, is progressing through a Phase I first-in-human clinical trial for patients with advanced or recurrent solid tumors refractory to standard therapies. FerroptoCure’s initial focus includes triple-negative breast cancer, a difficult-to-treat form of breast cancer with limited targeted treatment options. The company is also exploring FC-001’s potential across other solid tumor types, subject to further clinical validation.

In this installment of our Let’s Interview Series, Venture Valuation speaks with Otsuki Yuji, MD, PhD, CEO and Co-founder of FerroptoCure. The interview covers the science behind ferroptosis, the company’s clinical pipeline, its global development strategy, and its interest in strategic partnerships.
